Defense was the calling card for the Alden-Conger girls’ basketball team against Lanesboro on Friday night.

The Knights held the Burros to five poitns in the first half in a 44-23 win.

Erika Bute scored 20 points to lead the Knights. Abbie Theusch added 11 points and six rebounds for Alden-Conger, which moved to 15-10 on the season and ended the season winners of six of its last seven games.

Alden-Conger will begin its sub-section tournament on Feb. 28.

It will play St. Clair in St. Clair.
