Neil Chalmers’ sixth-grade digital citizenship class at Southwest Middle School has been busy learning about copyright law and creator rights. Students have learned about the purpose of copyright laws as well as how they can create their own copyright license for their digital creations. Working in small groups, students are writing their own original song lyrics, tunes and beats. Students are adding a creative commons license to their song lyrics and recording their songs using iPads. They will also have the option to perform their original works live in class, make a music video or a simple audio recording. - Provided
