Man injured in crash involving A.L. resident

A Kasson man was injured on Sunday after being struck by a vehicle in Kasson.

Brian Kelly Hanson, 33, was transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with an injury deemed not life-threatening.

A 2005 GMC Sierra driven by Nicholas Lee Schmitz, 34, of Albert Lea, turned south on Minnesota Highway 57 and struck Hanson at about 7:20 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Schmitz and a passenger in the Sierra, Casey May Gilliam, 28, of Albert Lea, were not injured in the crash.

Schmitz and Gilliam were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not detected in Schmitz’s system, the report states. Alcohol was detected in Hanson. 

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Kasson police and first responders and Dodge Center ambulance assisted on scene.
