Eleven students in one classroom at Lakeview Elementary School fell ill Tuesday morning what what appears to be a flu-related symptoms.

Lakeview Principal Nick Sofio said symptoms of the students included headache and nausea.

The school’s office staff and nurses supported the students who came to the office with any of these symptoms. Some students were sent home for the day, while others returned to their classroom for the remainder of the day.

Sofio said air quality was checked in the classroom — and throughout the building — with no concerns reported.

“We will continue to monitor this throughout the week,” he said.

A phone call was made to parents of students experiencing any of the symptoms.
