Tigers place 2nd at districts

The Albert Lea wrestling team came away with a second place finish in its district tournament over the weekend.
After defeating Winona on Thursday, the Tigers traveled to Rochester on Saturday and wrestled against Plainview-Elgin-Millville and powerhouse Kasson-Mantorville.
Albert Lea squeaked by the Bulldogs by a score of 31-27, but found the road much tougher against the KoMets, suffering its worst defeat of the year, 56-7.
Against the Bulldogs, the Tigers got a win from heavyweight Matt Palmer to seal the team’s victory. He defeated Logan Wingert by a 6-4 decision.
Also winning for the Tigers in the match were Nic Cantu (13-6), Jake Johnsrud (11-3), Gavin Ignaszewski (10-0), Brody Nielsen (pin), Garrett Aldrich (10-2), Logan Donovan (12-2) and Zach Glazier (9-3).
In the loss to Kasson-Mantorville, Albert Lea only got wins from Ignaszewski (8-6) and Glazier (12-4).
