The American Cancer Society is seeking local volunteers to be a part of the 15th annual Relay For Life of Freeborn County event scheduled for July 28.
According to a press release, community volunteers are the backbone of this movement, and you can be part of it right here in Albert Lea. The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. Uniting communities across the globe, the organization celebrates people who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and takes action for lifesaving change.
“Freeborn County has directly benefited from the funds raised through Relay For Life over the past 15 years.” said Brett Boss, Relay volunteer. “We rely on the help and support of volunteers to make the Freeborn County Relay For Life a success.”
In 2016, the American Cancer Society provided cross-cutting information and services to 23 Freeborn County residents. Services provided include: Hope Lodge, Look Good Feel Better, Reach to Recovery, wigs and general information via cancer.org or at 1-800-ACS-2345.
The organization is looking for volunteers of all ages and abilities to join us in the fight against cancer. A kick-off event will take place for interested community members at 6 p.m. March 16 at Pizza Ranch in Albert Lea. All are welcome to attend.
