Here are some updates on former Albert Lea athletes playing college sports:

Former Albert Lea baseball player Jake Thompson is off to a good start for South Dakota State University. The freshman has played in seven of the team’s 13 games, making five starts. He has five hits in 17 at-bats for a batting average of .353. He has one RBI on the season. His best game came in the Jackrabbits’ first game of the season against Northern Illinois when he went 2-3 with three runs scored.

Junior infielder and former Albert Lea baseball standout Jonathan Fleek is off to a hot start at Western Illinois University. Through 13 games, Fleek is batting .297 with a home run, five rbi and an on-base percentage of .350 for the Leathernecks.

Former Albert Lea basketball player Bryn Woodside just finished her junior year at Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota. She helped the Jimmies reach the NAIA National Championship quarterfinal round where they lost to Concordia University (Nebraska), 74-59, and a 27-6 record. Woodside averaged 10.2 points and 4.8 assists per game. She shot 35 percent from three. She is majoring in nursing.
