Letter: Watershed has a ‘get it done’ approach

Published 9:09 am Thursday, March 2, 2017

As a member of the Albert Lea Lakes Foundation and the Shell Rock River Watershed Advisory Committee, I was honored to participate in the recent trip to St. Paul to meet with legislative leaders to discuss the great work that we are seeing in our community promoting clean water. Our watershed has a statewide reputation for their “get it done” approach to their projects. They have utilized our sales tax dollars in a way that has saved our local tax rolls millions of dollars. Our community is about to begin breaking ground on the storage facility for dredge materials so that our community gem — Fountain Lake — can be dredged. Recent suggestions that we should slow down this process are misplaced. We need to continue to move forward and support this effort in making our community a better place to live.
