Preserving the Past: New, upcoming exhibits bring life to museum
Published 10:00 am Sunday, March 5, 2017
The museum is showcasing our first quarterly featured exhibit.
Until March 31, you can visit the museum and see our featured exhibit on Winters in Freeborn County.
Our display designer, Hattie Phillips, has transformed one of our exhibit spaces into a flashback to winter over the years in Freeborn. There are displays within the room on fox hunting in the late 1950s, as well as information on ice harvesting.
Phillips adds additional resources by recommending YouTube videos that enhance some of the experiences found in the room.
There is even a picture from the late 1800s that depicts a wintery day in Freeborn County. My favorite part of the display is a case she has put together that has different ice skates from over the years.
Our next featured exhibit will be Discover History Days.
This display will feature 20 years of working with the school district and Jim Haney’s history class — what an amazing milestone that has given so many students the opportunity to experience life as they don’t know it.
Come visit the museum and experience this great display before it is gone! Watch for my weekly Facebook Live video, too.
Also, you can hear me on KATE and The Breeze radio shows Sunday morning for updates from the museum. I love visitors, too, so come on in and see me.
We are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.
