Retired educators to gather in Albert Lea

The Retired Educators of the Albert Lea area will meet at noon on Thursday at the Albert Lea American Legion.
The speaker will be Angie Barker, chairwoman of a storytelling group that can present an opportunity for local charities in their fundraising efforts. Storytellers can be brought on stage for an evening of comedy and drama.
According to a press release, her presentation was most well-received at the library last fall.
Members who are have not been contacted by Sunday night and would like to attend, should call Carol Frydenlund at 377-2785 to make a reservation. Reservations should be made or cancelled before 8:30 a.m. Thursday so she can call the restaurant with the final head count. Do not call the American Legion yourself. All retired school personnel are welcome to attend the meeting. A drawing for a free meal will take place at the end of the meeting.
The Retired Educators of Southeast Minnesota will host its annual spring conference at Albert Lea’s American Legion at 8:30 a.m. April 26 at the Albert Lea American Legion and will begin with coffee and pastries. Details of registration can be found in the Spring SEREAM newsletter. Representatives will report the latest on pensions in addition to other speakers and topics. Lunch will be served and the day will end at approximately 2:30 p.m.
March is Minnesota Channel One Food Share month. All money collected will be split between The Salvation Army and Ecumenical Food Pantry. Members who have a preference on where their funds go should note that preference on their check.
