Walz seeks constituent input

U.S. Representative Tim Walz invites constituents of Minnesota’s First Congressional District to review the American Health Care Act, a bill Republicans have introduced to repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
“It is Congress’ job to ensure every American has access to affordable, high-quality health care. The Affordable Care Act has made great strides toward achieving this goal, but serious barriers to health care affordability are still being faced by many of our farmers and other Minnesotans on the individual market,” Walz said. “In order to solve the remaining shortfalls in our health care system, we need to keep an open mind and review every possible option to determine how to best move forward.”
As a result, he said he welcomes Minnesotans to join him in reviewing the health care bill recently released by the Republican Party.
“Just as I judged the Affordable Care Act, I have a responsibility to all of my constituents to judge this plan in a fair and objective manner. But I can’t do so alone, which is why I look forward to hearing your questions, comments and concerns on this proposal,” Walz said. “I remain optimistic that if we all work together, we will soon find common ground and begin to solve the problems that still exist in our healthcare system while preserving what is working well.”

Walz will also accept input from rural hospitals, providers, private practitioners, insurance agents and health care experts.
