A Wells man died Wednesday afternoon south of Mapleton after a crash on Minnesota Highway 22.

Alan Lucias Remington, 65, died at the scene after his 1990 Buick Le Sabre and a 2012 Isuzu straight truck collided at 12:28 p.m. at the highway’s intersection with Minnesota Highway 30.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol Remington was reportedly traveling south on Highway 22 and the straight truck, driven by Danny Salazar, 26, of North Mankato was traveling west on Highway 30.

Salazar was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato for injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Alcohol was not a factor, and roads were wet at the time of the crash. Both men were reportedly wearing their seat belts.

Mapleton police and fire, Minnesota Lake  police and Minnesota Lake fire and ambulance crews assisted at the scene.
