WELLS — Foul play is not suspected in the death of a woman found dead Sunday in a residence in Wells.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as Rebecca Jean Mosser, who was also known as Rebecca Krowiorz, 45, of Wells. She was found dead at approximately 6:45 p.m. Sunday at 701 First Ave. SW.

Mosser’s cause of death and manner of death are undetermined, pending test results and further examination, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Residents were still trying to piece together what happened Sunday after state officials with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were called in to investigate the death.

Walt Van Guilder, who lives across the street from the house, said the investigation surprised him.

“It was an unusual sight in a small town like this,” he said. “We have our common problems — somebody dabbling in a little more marijuana than they care to, that sort of thing — but last night the lights lit up,” he said.

Van Guilder remembers seeing local and state authorities on scene beginning at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, and he said he received a text message from his daughter informing him that a woman was found deceased in the area.

“That’s pretty much where it stayed,” he said. “There was all kinds of coming and going.”

According to Van Guilder, the people who lived at the residence moved in last year. He remembers family members visiting him.

“Seemed like nice enough people,” he said.
