- Halverson Elementary School students Nick Martinez and Chase Schmidt stand with their in progress paper weaving. The next step is to use oil crayons to draw lines that will create a pattern on top of the weaving. The lesson was inspired by the book “The Spider Weaver: A legend of Kente Cloth” by Margaret Musgrove and Julia Cairns. Several third-grade standards will be covered in this lesson, including creating a weaving, identifying the characteristics of visual artworks from a variety of cultures, and using the elements of visual art including line, shape, color, texture and space. - Provided
