Project: Providing scholarships
Report: The $10,000 gift to Luther Seminary from the Kenneth W. Olson Charitable Foundation Fund is a welcome contribution to the general scholarship fund at Luther Seminary.
This fund, along with endowed scholarships and tuition support, provides the financial aid that helps students follow a call to serve faith communities across the globe.
Though the school did not have degree-seeking students from Freeborn County enrolled during the 2015-16 year, the school reports other students have benefitted from the ongoing gift in other ways:
19 people who live in Freeborn County have taken continuing education classes or a class in the Lay School of Theology program.
59 Luther Seminary alumni serve congregations and/or live in Freeborn County.
14 members of Luther Seminary’s Heritage Society live in Freeborn County.
The $10,000 gift covers nearly two-thirds of a student’s annual tuition for the school year and it, along with other gifts, made it possible for Luther Seminary to budget $2.25 million for scholarships and financial aid based on the 2014-15 fiscal year.
