NORTHWOOD — Welsh Chiropractic offers more than chiropractic services. With the addition of Molly Odegaard to the team, the clinic provides massage services as well.

Odegaard, a Lake Mills native, has worked at Welsh Chiropractic for a little over two years. During that time, she has expanded her clientele list and has worked toward educating others on the benefits of massage.

There are several types of massages her clients can choose from, including Swedish massage, hot stone massages, deep tissue massages, prenatal massage or intro to oncology, among others.

Swedish massage is the general massage most clients ask for, while deep tissue massages are designed to allow the masseuse to work deep into the muscle tissue to relax overly strained muscles.

Odegaard uses hot stones in some of her massages to heat up the muscles in a more time-efficient manner.

Prenatal and intro to oncology focuses on pregnant patients or those diagnosed with cancer. She has had special training in each of these areas.

Odegaard offers massages that range from 15 minutes long to an hour and a half long appointment.

“The power of touch is very healing,” Odegaard said, noting that helping her patients is by far the greatest benefit of her job.

She still hopes to further educate the public on the benefits of massage, which includes an increased range of motion, better circulation, relaxation and the release of endorphins, which help relieve pain and induce feelings of pleasure.

Massage can also be a way to treat many chronic conditions, such as migraines or lock jaw, without the use of medication or other treatments that could produce negative side effects.

In the future, Odegaard hopes to expand her practice into her own business that includes services like body wraps and body scrubs, too.

To make an appointment with Odegaard, contact the Welsh Chiropractic office at 641-324-1626.

She sees clients from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and by appointment.
