David Brown III, 1948-2017

David John Brown III, 69, of Albert Lea, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. The Rev. Russ Jacobsen will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Hope United Methodist Church, 12080 380th Ave. in Blue Earth and one hour before the service at the church. David Brown III

The Rev. David John Brown III was born March 29, 1948, in St. Paul, the son of David John Brown II and Elaine Jean Peterson. He graduated from Frank B. Kellogg High School in 1966 and Morningside College in 1970. He interned in Naperville, Illinois, for two years, after he was called to his first congregation in Blue Earth at Immanuel Methodist Church and Delavan United Methodist serving until 1982, West Concord from 1982 to 1995, Ellendale from 1995 to 2003, McGreger/Palisade/Flemming/Hill City/Crowmwell from 2003 to 2006 and Jackson from 2006 to 2013. He retired after 40 years of service in 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Rochelle “Shelly” Brown, of Albert Lea; sister, Pam Parker, of Lady Smith, Wisconsin; nephew, James Peasley, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; aunt, Marilyn Nelson, of Waconia; brothers-in-law Darrell (Sharon) Babcock of Rosemont and Wynn (Beverly) Babcock of Oak Park Heights; and nieces- and nephews-in-law Brent, Ross, Mariah (Nick) Hilary (Herb) and Angeline.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Ruth Brown, David Brown Sr., Philip Peterson and Florence Peterson; aunts, Phyllis Anderson and Betty Rust; and great uncle, Al Johnson.

Memorials can be made in David’s name to the American Heart Association or Dachshund Rescue.
