Lake Mills boys’ shuttle hurdle relay team crowned champions
Saturday marked the final day of the Iowa High School state track and field tournament, and Lake Mills took home a state title on the boys’ side.
In the 4×110-meter shuttle hurdle relay, the Bulldogs team of Alex Albert, Slade Sifuentes, Grant Fjelstad and Charlie Dugger took home first-place hardware with a finishing time of 59.48, edging out St. Ansgar, which finished with a time of 59.66.
Also on Saturday, Lexi Groe took third place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.90. She finished behind Sigourney’s Autum Barthelman (15.26) and Bedford’s Charissa Mogler (15.84).
The third-place finish for Groe came after she placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles on Friday.
In the 4×100-meter relay, Lake Mills’ group of Megan Groe, Lyv Arispe, Dana Baumann and Lexi Groe took seventh place with a time of 51.81.

In the boys’ 4×400-meter relay, the group of Parker Eaton, Luke Groe, Sifuentes and Dugger finished in eighth place with a time of 3:32.56.
Those finishes on Saturday were added to a long list of respectable finishes for the Bulldogs at the state meet.

Ninth place — Parker Eaton 100-meter dash.
12th place — Boys’ 4×200-meter relay.
13th place — Lyv Arispe 100-meter dash.
16th place — Girls’ shuttle hurdle relay; Boys’ 4×100-meter relay.
19th place — Carson Rygh in 3200-meter run.
