A Lake Mills man who allegedly robbed a Hayward bar in January is charged with 13 counts of felony theft in connection with the theft of firearms, ammunition and tools earlier that month from a Manchester residence.

Jeromy Eugene Dann, 35, is also charged with first-degree criminal damage to property and second-degree burglary.

Court documents state Dann was charged after he was arrested early in the morning Jan. 22 following a pursuit after an alleged burglary in Hayward. He faces charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree burglary and possessing ammunition or a firearm with a previous felony conviction in that case.

Dann was allegedly in possession of .12-gauge shotgun ammunition. Distinctive tread on boots that were seized from Dann matched the tread found at the scene of an alleged burglary in Manchester, court documents state.

The alleged victim in the Manchester burglary stated the house was broken into and items — two Cabela’s gun safes containing 11 firearms, two other firearms in the residence, ammunition and tools — were stolen. Damage to the alleged victim’s vehicle and doors were estimated at more than $2,000.

The safes were reportedly found broken open with the firearms missing Jan. 15. The distinctive tread from Dann’s boots was found in the snow where the safes were dumped, court documents state.

“The deputies would match the distinctive tread to the truck used by Dann in the fleeing case,” the document states.

The alleged victim identified items recovered Jan. 22 from Dann’s truck after the chase as the items stolen, and in a search warrant two days later deputies allegedly recovered around 25 tools that were identified by the alleged victim as items that were taken from him.

In a separate file. Dann is charged with second-degree burglary after items recovered from his truck reportedly matched a burglary that took place in December on 770th Avenue in Freeborn County.

District Court Judge Steven Schwab set conditional bail for Dann at $50,000 on Friday.

Dann’s next appearance on the two files is scheduled for May 23. A jury trial on the second-degree assault file is also scheduled to begin May 23.

Felony theft carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. Second-degree burglary carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. First-degree criminal damage to property carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
