The NRHEG baseball team didn’t get off to a good start in section play against Le Sueur-Henderson on Friday.

The Panthers’ offense generated just four hits and failed to push across a run, wasting a good start from pitcher Jack Schultz.

“Overall, I thought we played a solid four innings of baseball,” Panthers coach Drew Paukert said. “We had our opportunities, but just couldn’t come through with a clutch hit when we needed it.”

Schultz pitched three innings of scoreless ball before giving up one run each in the fourth and fifth inning. He struck out four.

LSH pushed across three in the sixth.

“Jack pitched a great game for us today,” Paukert said. “After the fourth inning, we didn’t make some plays for him that we should have probably made.”

Jason Jongbloedt went 2-3 at the plate for the Panthers.

Even with a loss, it was an encouraging performance for Paukert.

“Overall, I was pleased with the way we came out and fought,” he said.

NRHEG will take the weekend off before returning to the diamond on Tuesday.

As of press time, its opponent or location have not been determined.
