50 years ago: 1967

• In the Albert Lea slow pitch league, the Elbow Room defeated Wilson’s 10-9. The Elbow Room was led by Orlo Willmert and Ron Godtland with two hits each. 

• Marilyn Schnoor and Mary Christian each had three hits for the Northside Mobile in its16-7 win over B&B Cafe. Judy Herfendal led B&B with two hits.

• Dick Lindell and Ditto Nelson each doubled for First Lutheran in its 15-3 victory over Methodist in an Albert Lea Church League softball game in the National Division.

25 years ago: 1992                                                                                                                                            

The Albert Lea VFW baseball team swept a doubleheader over Northfield 11-0 and 10-0. Jay Jerdee was the winning pitcher in the first game and Josh Heilman had three hits, three RBI’s and three runs scored. Noland had three hits in the second game. Post 447 had a 3-0 League record and was 5-1 for the season. 

• The Albert Lea Colonels baseball team in the Southern Minnesota League raised its season record to 9-2 after defeating Northfield 6-4. Joe Sczublewski was the winning pitcher.

10 years ago: 2007

• Named the Albert Lea Tribune softball Coach of the Year was Brad Huse of United South Central and the Player of the Year was Kelli Robbins of USC. Named to the first team were Robbins of USC, Brydinna Schroeder of USC, Ashley Thrond of USC, Kaylee Newman of Alden-Conger and Lindsey Lorenzen of Glenville-Emmons. Named to the second team were Marisa Cottrell of Albert Lea High School, Jenna Christensen of ALHS, Molly Hacker of NRHEG, Rebecca Olson of USC and Steph Adix of A-C. Named to the third were Ashley Lau of G-E, Nadean Kruger of A-C, Lauren Klick of ALHS, Kate Ladwig of ALHS and Jenna Brekke of NRHEG.

• The Albert Lea U-11 boys soccer team defeated Burnsville 6-0. Tim Furland and Carter Dahl each scored two goals for Albert Lea.
