Jackie Hillman started as the executive director at Senior Resources of Freeborn County just over a week ago and has enjoyed her experiences so far.

Before making the move to Senior Resources, Hillman worked as the sales director at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea for many years. While at Oak Park Place Hillman was in charge of working with prospective new residents and their families.

Hillman said the transition was an easy one and everything has run smoothly so far.

“I’d been aware of (Senior Resources) for a long time and I’ve always admired the work that they do,” Hillman said. “I have looked at Senior Resources and always had an interest in the seniors. It’s been a good transition.

“Senior Resources has a lot of good people and this will allow me to work with a lot of people in the community. I’m very excited.”

Hillman has many goals with the company, but one stands out as a main ambition.

“I think my biggest goal is to communicate more with the public,” she said. “I just want to make people more aware of what we do so that we can help more people.”

Senior Resources of Freeborn County offers many services to the elderly members of the community. Some of the resources include chore services, advocacy programs, family caregivers network, ride services and assistance with guardianships.

While Hillman has worked with senior citizens for the past several years, she can’t quite put her finger on why she is so passionate about her work.

“Back in time, 20 years ago, I would have never thought I would be working with the elderly,” she said. “I think that I have seen so many special circumstances and so many special people that I have been able to help, and I’m looking forward to doing that here.”
