Adams said he enjoyed going through the process, and he looks forward to continuing to work with Albert Lea city councilors, the community and community leaders.

Rymer, who was selected as the fourth city administrator in the city’s history, has served as the director of Parks and Recreation in New Brighton, before moving to a similar position in Morgan Hill in 2006 and later becoming city manager.

The job became open after former Rochester City Administrator Steven Kvenvold retired May 31 after 47 years with the city, including 38 as administrator.

Assistant City Manager Gary Neumann had been serving as the interim administrator.

The council is expected to approve Rymer’s employment agreement at a recessed meeting next Monday.

Adams became Albert Lea city manager in June 2011.
