Area student participates in orientation

Rylee Bowman of Lake Mills attended Iowa State University and College of Human Sciences Orientation.

The purpose of the orientation is to become more familiar with the campus, learn tips about making the most of college and to sign up for classes.

Area students on dean’s list

Amelia Evenson, Tanner Jensen, Justine Stensrude, Karen Stensrude, Christopher Thorne of Lake Mills were listed on Buena Vista University’s dean’s list. Students named on the dean’s list must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and must have taken at least 12 hours of coursework.

Jessica Price of Alden was on the dean’s list for University of Nebraska-Lincoln. To get on the dean’s list for College of Education and Human Sciences, students must have a GPA of 3.75 or higher and have a minimum of 12 or more graded semester hours.

Scott Grzybowski of Albert Lea and Adam Heimendinger of Scarville were listed on University of Iowa’s dean’s list. To be honored, students have to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and were enrolled in 12 credit hours for the term.

Wartburg college released the names of students listed on the dean’s list. Among those were Haley Harms or Albert Lea; Sara Sanderson of Albert Lea; Maria Silva of Albert Lea; Makenzie Thorson of Lake Mills. Students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least five course credits during the two terms.

Iowa State University released the names of students listed on the dean’s list. Among those were Natalie Hagen of Lake Mills; Amy Sanderson of Albert Lea; Morgan Winnekins of Hartland. Students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to be listed on the dean’s list.

Trevor Herfindahl was on the dean’s list for Minnesota West Community and Technical College.

North Dakota State University released the names of the students listed on the dean’s list. Among those were Trey Allis of Wells and Veronica Schindler of Wells.

South Dakota State University released the names of students on the dean’s list. Among those were Allison Grandstrand of Albert Lea, Andrea Tomschin of Alden, Kailie Drescher of Alden, Hannah Wangsness of Alden, Mary Bjorklund or Clarks Grove and Rosemary Hubly of Clarks Grove.

Students honored

Amelia Evenson of Lake Mills and Tanner Jensen of Lake Mills received an Academic Excellence Award.

This Academic Excellence Award is given to students whose cumulative GPA is 3.75 or higher. They represent the top 10 percent of each class.

Hartland native on chancellor’s list

Sarah Riecke of Hartland was named on the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth chancellor’s list. Student’s listed on the chancellor’s list have a GPA of 3.8 or higher.

Local graduates
from U of M

Sidney Laurie of Albert Lea graduated from University of Minnesota Crookston this past spring. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education and elementary education.
