Alden student graduates

Ariel Keller of Alden graduated from Grinnell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.

Keller is the child of Mr. Brent J. Keller and Ms. Pamela M. Keller of Alden.

Scholarship awarded from SDSU

South Dakota State University has announced that Travis Nemec will receive the Jerome and Olimpia Gaspar Scholarship for the upcoming academic year. Nemec was a 2017 graduate at Albert Lea High School.

Nemec is the son of Russ and Sheri Nemec of Hayward. He plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Albert Lea alum graduates

Lindsey Stewart, daughter of David and Dynelle Stewart of Albert Lea, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany Lutheran College, where she majored in exercise. She was an Albert Lea High School graduate in 2013.

Area students listed on  dean’s list

Anna Anderson of Albert Lea and Jacob Kunkel of Albert Lea were listed on Augustana University’s dean’s list for spring 2017. Students listed on the dean’s list must have a minimum of 12 credit hours and a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Albert Lea student on president’s list

Francesca Eckstrom of Albert Lea was listed on University of Iowa’s president’s list. To be included on this list, students must have a GPA of 4.0 in all academic subjects for the preceding two semesters, and have a total of at least 12 semester hours of credit per semester during that period.

Ellendale native on winning quiz bowl team

Tara Simon of Ellendale was a member of the Iowa State University first-place team in the 2017 Undergraduate Quiz Bowl Competition. The team went undefeated through preliminary rounds to the finals. Thirty-three teams competed.

Area students graduate

Several area students graduated from North Dakota State University. Those students include Suzie Ann Marin of Albert Lea, who received a bachelor’s degree in strategic communication; Trey Allis of Wells received a Bachelor of Science in agricultural and biosystems engineering in agricultural and biosystems engineering; Veronica Mary Schindler of Wells received a bachelor’s degree in equine science.

Albert Lea native graduates from Wheaton

Corbin David Lynn Schultz of Albert Lea graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelors of Arts in business economics.

Glenville student graduates

Makenzie Mauntler of Glenville graduated from Buena Vista with a Bachelors of Arts in graphic design.
