50 years ago: 1967

• In the Albert Lea Slowpitch League, Harolds Bar defeated the City Employees 20-13. Jack Swanson and Keith Sather each tripled for Harolds Bar. Tom Nelson had four hits in four at bats for the City.

• Butch Donovan drove in the winning run for the Melody Bar team in its 7-6 win over Interstate Power in the American Division of the A. L. Slowpitch League. Fred Alver hit a three-run home run for Interstate.

•Calvary Baptist, with Rich Lokken and Dennis Wadding each getting four hits, defeated Ascension Lutheran 23-9. Ron Noe was the winning pitcher. Ascension was led by Jim Hanson with two hits.

25 years ago:1992

• The Lou-Rich 12 and under baseball team swept a double header from Wells, 7-6 and 7-2, and raised its season record to 8-4. Josh Cook and Ryan Nelson shared pitching duties in the first game.

10 years ago: 2007

• Named as the Albert Lea Tribune All-Area Baseball Coach of the Year was Pat Frank of United South Central. Named to the A.L. Tribune All-Area Baseball First Team were Matt Bremseth from Alden-Conger, Brian Warnxe from NRHEG, Ned Kalis from USC, Casey Woodside and Jared Gavle from Albert Lea High School. Named to the Second Team were Kevin Gore from USC, Levi Langseth from ALHS, Ross Hemmingsen from A-C, Logan Hansen from Glenville-Emmons and Colton Schlaak from NRHEG. Named to the Third Team were Luke Beyer and Eric Grunzke from USC, Gavin Schlaak and Alex Wagner from NRHEG and Ryan Wach from A-C.

• The Albert Lea Colonels defeated Austin 5-1 behind pitcher Brandon Klukow. Andrew Behnke homered for the Colonels.

• Megan Pederson pitched a shutout for the Lake Mills softball team in its 5-0 win over Belmond-Klemme. The Bulldogs raised their conference record to 7-2 and their season mark to 19-5.

• Mick Hockinson of Albert Lea scored a hole-in-one on the 148-yard hole No. 13 at Green Lea Golf Course.
