Lake Mills man killed in bicycle crash

A Lake Mills man was killed last Friday after a bicycle crash south of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Franklin Dahn, 70, was riding his bicycle downhill on the 2300 block of Sugar Bottom Road in rural Johnson County when what is believed to be a squirrel swerved in front of him, causing him to crash, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Dahn was flown to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash was reported to authorities at about 1:30 p.m.

Dahn was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
