Funeral services for Clayton Lyle Trandem, 88, of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Malinsky will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by local servicemen’s organizations. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Clayton died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Community.

Clayton Lyle Trandem was born April 6, 1929, in New Richland, the son of Christian and Agnes (Carlson) Trandem. He grew up in New Richland. Clayton served in the U.S. Army.

On Aug. 20, 1960, Clayton married Hazel Hayes in Austin. He worked for many years at Wilson & Co./Farmstead. Clayton was a member of United Methodist Church. He liked to garden, fish and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of his Norwegian heritage.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Hazel; children Diane (Cornelio, Jr.) Vallejo of Albert Lea, Scott Trandem of Mankato and Kim (Erik) Dahlberg of Farmington; grandchildren Jennifer Swenson of Nashville, Tennessee, Michael Swenson of Austin, Elizabeth, Peter and Emily Trandem of Mankato and Kaylee, Korey, Kolten and Casey Dahlberg of Farmington; and two special great-granddaughters, Khrysty Auhna Forbes-Swenson and Ka’Leigha Swenson of Nashville; and brother, Harold Trandem.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
