Daniel J. Stinehart, 66, of Lake Mills died Friday morning, Aug. 11, 2017, in St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Private family funeral services for Daniel Joseph Stinehart of Lake Mills will be at 1 pm. Monday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St. in Lake Mills. The Rev. Matthew Hundley will officiate. Public visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa.

Daniel Joseph Stinehart was born Dec. 15, 1950, in Rochester to Eugene and Mary (Folkert) Stinehart. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in Blooming Prairie in 1969.

Dan married Linda Odson in 1972 and three children were born to this union — Wayne, Julie and Michael. They later divorced. Dan then married Phyllis Feldmann on May 17, 1980, and one child, Travis, was born to this union.

Dan worked for Farmstead (Wilson & Co./Farmland) for 30 years until it burned down. He later worked at Byerly’s in Lake Mills for a short time and then Golden Oval/Rembrandt until his retirement on March 31, 2013. In retirement, he worked part time at Casey’s. He enjoyed visiting the casino, riding motorcycles and occasionally golfing with his youngest son, Travis.

Dan is survived by children Wayne Stinehart of Northwood, Julie (Dan) Stuart of Albert Lea, Mike (Agnes) Stinehart of Red Wing and Travis (Jodie) Stinehart of Lake Mills; stepchildren Michelle (Tim) Rasmussen of Leland, Iowa, and Robert (Teresa) Feldmann of Williamsburg, Iowa; siblings Bill Stinehart of Shakopee, Kathleen (John) Meyer of Blooming Prairie and Karen (Curt) Oeltjenbruns of Claremont; grandchildren Brandi, Abby, Kimberly, GraceLynn, Kenny, Marissa, MaKayla, Summeer, Dominic, Jeannie, Sara, Christina, Robert, Anthony, Jaimyan, Jonathyn, Justin, Jessica and Jordan; four great-grandchildren with another one due soon; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Stinehart; sister, Sandra Stinehart; his parents; and his wife, Phyllis, in 2012.
