Jerry Lee Busch, 62, of Kiester died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

A celebration of Jerry’s life was at 5 p.m. Friday at the Kiester American Legion.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and will conclude with military honors accorded by Kiester American Legion Post No. 454. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family. To leave an online condolence, visit www.brussheitner.com.

Jerry Lee was born Oct. 12, 1954, in Douglas County, the son of William “Billy” and Gladys (Jobe) Busch. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandrea.

He attended school at Zion Lutheran and Alexandria High School.

Jerry honorably served his country for four years in the United States Army, stationed in Alaska.

He had many adventures in his life: he commercial fished off the Oregon coast, owned a small engine shop and worked construction in Arizona. He worked as a union carpenter in Alaska, Oregon and Minnesota, pouring thousands of yards of concrete. He farmed for a short time, and was an owner/operator for many years. Jerry was a volunteer fireman for Walters Fire Department for many years.

Jerry had many hobbies. He loved gardening, riding his Harley, fishing, hunting and his animals. He so enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry was such a happy and caring man. He will be missed and loved by everyone who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Karen, of Kiester; mother, Gladys Busch, of Alexandria; children Shamus Busch (fiancee, Beth Goerger) of Rollag, Shawn (Shannon) St. Onge of Sauk Rapids, Jenny Subject (fiance, Ryan Flett) of Beldenville, Wisconsin, and Jessi (Ryan) Mary of Lake Mills; stepdaughters Rachel (Jeff) Lohberger of Kiester, Audra Hanson (Dan Woitas) of Minnesota Lake and Maren Oren of St. Joseph; grandchildren KateLynn, Ashlan, Nathan and Logan St. Onge of Sauk Rapids, Summer, and Autumn Busch-Gordon of Albert Lea, Nathan Ptacek of Prescott, Wisconsin, Owen and Kaisen Mary of Lake Mills, Cody and Reise Hanson of Minnesota Lake, Tristan, and Solomon Oren-Ruprecht of St. Joseph; 1 great-grandson, Taylan St. Onge, of Sauk Rapids; and sisters Jean (Wally) Wallburg of Ironton, Judy Thoenis of Miltona and Joyce Anderson of Walters.

He is preceded in death by his father, Billy; brother, James; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
