Memorial services for Lois Van Ravenhorst, 86, of Albert Lea will be at 1 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at Hollandale Cemetery at a later date. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Lois died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Lois Jeanne Van Ravenhorst was born July 20, 1931, in Lake Mills, the daughter of Grant and Juliet (Bendickson) Thompson. She grew up and attended country school in the Lake Mills area. On Dec. 31, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to Dorus Van Ravenhorst. They made their home in Albert Lea and had seven children. Lois was a homemaker for many years. After her divorce, she waitressed for many years at various restaurants before working as a certified nursing assistant at Good Samaritan Society. Lois kept busy being a mom and enjoyed bowling.

Lois is survived by her children Judy (Randy) Schustak, Jean (Kevin) Reynolds, Patricia (Mike) James, Gary (Zoraida) Van Ravenhorst, Vickie Groe and Diane Berg; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael, in infancy; two brothers; and three sisters.
