Shirley Bartholomew, 1934-2017

Shirley Mae Bartholomew, 82, of Wells died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mary Iverson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will take place at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells. Shirley Bartholomew

Shirley Mae was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Gustav and Gladys (Nelson) Tennyson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. She worked for Estelle Compton Modeling Inc., Northwest Institute of Medical Technology, U.S. Savings and Loan League and H&R Block.

It was while working as a home insurance agent for Home Federal Bank of Albert Lea that she met the love of her life, Dale. She was united in marriage to Dale Bartholomew on June 3, 1961.

She worked for many years as a manager and coordinator for Shaklee. Shirley was a member of PSI Sorority, Honorary Degree, Jobs Daughters and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing piano, golfing, decorating, music and dancing. She loved to go to plays and to see her Minnesota Vikings. Shirley was a generous woman and donated to many organizations. Her loving personality and laughter will be missed by so many.

Shirley is survived by her close friend, Shelly (Chuck) Tibodeau, and her family: Lesley (Cole) Richardson and their son, Holden, Lyssa (Jade) Warmka and their son, Hudson, and Ashley (Adam) Grunzke and their children Paisley and Hadley; sisters-in-law Monica Marsky, Bea Ann Ashlager and Margie Benson; brother-in-law, Dick (Jean Ann) Bartholomew; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Shirley is also survived by her loving caregivers who were able to provide the beautiful gift of allowing her to be at home for the last months of her life, Deb Larson, Linda Stern, Kim Johnson, Rosa Jones, Shelley Tibodeau and Lyssa Warmka.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dale.
