“But this year specifically for a new spot light for the school and a special project at the Alden Cemetery,” Koenen said.

According to Koenen, The Bretts was chosen after many recommendations by the community as well as Alden Lion members who have seen them perform in Branson, Missouri.

Koenen said the show will bring family entertainment to Alden.

“They perform a variety of types of music, along with dance and comedy,” she said.

According to a press release, the Bretts Show at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater in Branson is not your average family variety show. With a dizzying array of awards and accomplishments over their 18-year Branson career, this dynamic family produces a power-packed, two-hour entertainment experience that combines the best in music, lighting, video, dance, comedy and genuine artistry.

The Bretts Show mixes classics, current chart-topping hits and award-winning original music, all presented with The Bretts’ signature polish and professionalism.

The press release also said The Bretts Show features Branson’s No. 1 Patriotic Tribute and also includes a host of fun surprises for the entire family, like Brydon’s Harlem Globetrotter-style basketball routine.

The Alden Lions Club was formed 39 years ago.

“During that time, the organization has supported and sponsored a variety of projects in our community,” Koenen said.

“We help with delivering meals for Senior Dining, donate to many school and community groups, sponsor dictionaries to the third graders at Alden-Conger each year, and coordinate and sponsor the Liberty Day Program every two years.”

This is the 100th year of Lions Clubs International.

“The mission statement of the organization is:  We serve,” said Koenen.

Lions Clubs International Purpose is:

To organize, charter and supervise service clubs to be known as Lions clubs.

To coordinate the activities and standardize the administration of Lions clubs.

To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.

To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
