Leonard William Cihlar, 89, of Wells died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne.

A visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. According to his wishes, a private family memorial service will take place. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Leonard William was born May 30, 1928, in New Prague, the son of John and Elizabeth (Prchal) Cihlar. He honorably served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.

He was united in marriage to Caroline Elmer Aug. 19, 1992, in Walker.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Caroline; sisters-in-law LaJean (Roger) Bjorkland of Albert Lea and Marie (Dennis) Enser of Owatonna; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Val and Lawrence Cihlar.
