As an American and a Democrat, I have found the last seven months to be frustrating and worrisome. What is one to do? My sense is that things won’t change unless we work to change them.

If you are not happy with the status quo, with the direction the country is taking, get involved. An easy way to start is to come to the Freeborn County DFL Crock Pot Cookoff at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Edgewater Bay Pavilion. There will be a crock pot competition (you may bring your favorite dish or let someone else cook for a change and just enjoy the food), a silent auction for neat stuff, good conversations from candidates for governor and 1st District Congress, and a fun night with like-minded folks.
