Marjorie Trihus, 1944-2017

Marjorie R. Trihus, 73, of Blooming Prairie passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin surrounded by her loving family.

Marjorie Rachel was born March 6, 1944, in Hibbing, the daughter of Emmett and Marjorie (Gelling) Swanson. Marjorie graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in home economics from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

On Nov. 27, 1971, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen Trihus at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Marjorie worked for the Extension Service prior to becoming a devoted farm wife, mother and grandmother.

Over the years she enjoyed volunteering at her church and with 4-H activities. Her happy place was with family at livestock and cattle shows. Marjorie was a longtime member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her two sons, John (Wendy Cadwell) Trihus and Brian (Emily Nelson) Trihus, all of Blooming Prairie; her daughter, Rachel Trihus, of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Tyler Trihus, Cassandra and Ruth Jones, and Creighton Cadwell; brother, Emmett “Art” (Cathi) Swanson, of Minneapolis; and by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Kenneth, on March 25, 2016.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, 30456 Mower Freeborn Road in Austin, with the Rev. Lindsay Stolen officiating. Interment will follow the service in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7  p.m. today at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marjorie’s memory may be directed to the general fund at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
