Dee passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. She was 79. Deloris Ruth (Roorda) Reed was born on March 21, 1938, in Albert Lea to Gary and Bertha (DeVries) Roorda. She grew up and was raised in the Hollandale area. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. On June 25, 1958, Dee was united in marriage to Robert Reed at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union, four children were born: Gary, Kelly, Ann and Mary.

Deloris Reed

Deloris was a member of the Conservative Congregational Church of Hollandale. She played organ for church services for many years and served in other roles for the church. Dee had an in-home day care for many years in Hollandale and Albert Lea — she enjoyed caring for all of those children.

In her free time, Dee stayed very active by volunteering and supporting her children and community. She liked sewing, quilting and music. Dee could often be found socializing with her friends. Dee was most well known for her cooking and baking — always having treats in the freezer. Above all, Dee was a loving mother and grandmother, and was most happy when she was surrounded by her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; both parents; mother- and father in-law; and a brother, Richard Roorda.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her children Gary (Julie) Reed, Kelly (Mike) Auer, Ann (Todd) Kriewall and Mary (Danny) Muzik; grandchildren Erin Reed, Hayley (Daniel) Schull, Laura Auer, Rachel Auer, Kyle Kriewall, Karli Kriewall, Kohl Kriewall, Quincy Muzik, and Ella Muzik; a sister, Phyllis (Bill) Herman; sister-in-law, Janet Roorda-Monlux; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

Blessed be her memory.
