Man sentenced to probation for 30 pounds of marijuana

A California man charged with possessing more than 30 pounds of marijuana on Interstate 35 was placed on probation for up to 20 years on Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.

Jonathan Lynn Lorenzen, 44, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to third-degree drug possession in July. He was sentenced to four days in jail, and he was given credit for four days served.
Lorenzen was ordered to have no alcohol or controlled substance use, follow all state and federal criminal laws, contact his probation officer as directed and meet numerous other conditions.
Court documents state Lorenzen was charged after officers conducted a traffic stop March 4.
A K-9 reportedly alerted a state trooper to the vehicle, where 30 one-pound bags of marijuana were found.
