Probation for woman involved in prostitution sting

An Austin woman charged in connection with a sex trafficking sting conducted in 2016 in Albert Lea was placed on unsupervised probation for one year on Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.
Sharnaye Latrice Scroggins, 27, was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor prostitution. She received 90 days in jail — 82 days were stayed, and she was given credit for eight days served.
Scroggins was arrested in a sting conducted by the Albert Lea Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and Plymouth Police Department as part of law enforcement efforts to combat human trafficking.

Others arrested in the sting were the following:
Timothy Allen Hellman, 53, of Albert Lea. Hellman was placed on unsupervised probation for one year in August 2016 after pleading guilty to misdemeanor agreeing to hire a prostitute.
Nikita Marie Finley, 27, of St. Paul. Finley was placed on supervised probation for two years after she pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor prostitution in a public place in January.
Gregory Russell Bass, 57, of Mason City. Bass was placed on supervised probation for one year in August 2016 after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor agreeing to hire a prostitute.
Cody William Embrock, 24, of Rochester. Embrock was placed on unsupervised probation for two years after pleading guilty to gross misdemeanor patronizing prostitution in a public place in August 2016.
Uday Kumar Thakella, 29, of Rochester. Thakella was placed on unsupervised monitoring without adjudication for one year in September 2016.
Jorge Sanchez-Ramirez, 36, of Austin. Sanchez-Ramirez was given credit for time served in June 2016 after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor patronizing prostitution.
Officers responded to advertisements placed by Scroggins and Finley. The women reportedly came to Albert Lea and were arrested.
