Bell-ringers needed for annual Salvation Army kettle campaign

The sound of bells will soon be heard throughout town, as the Salvation Army has been busy preparing kettles for the new season.

“It would be wonderful if we could reach our goal of $102,000 and tell volunteers that all of the spots were full,” Maj. Sandy Hunt said. “But the season always seems to start out slow, and we certainly hope to raise as much funders as possible so we are able to serve the community the best we possibly can.”

The holidays and bell-ringing season is one of the greatest fundraisers of the year for the Salvation Army and it cannot be done without all the volunteers who help. Plenty of bell-ringers will be needed. The bell-ringing season begins Friday and runs through Dec. 23. Those who would like to volunteer can call 373-5710 or sign up online at salvationarmynorth.org/albertlea.

According to a press release, just one hour of bell-ringing can raise enough money to provide a family in need with two bags of groceries.
