Memorial services for Cheryl Elaine Gabel will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Cheryl died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at her home.

Cheryl Elaine Gabel was born in Austin on July 8, 1946, the daughter of Philip and Doris (Lange) Johnson. She grew up in southern Minnesota and attended school in Alden.

Cheryl worked as an aid at St. John’s Lutheran Community for many years. She enjoyed flowers, plants, gardening and caring for her beloved pets. Throughout her life, Cheryl made many sacrifices. She will be remembered for her kind heart and soul.

Survivors include her children Troy (Dareen) Gabel of Austin and Robert Gabel of Edina; brother, Scott Johnson, of Hayfield; grandchildren Crystal (Klint Anderson) Serrano and Nicole (Adam) Hanson; great-grandchildren Kennedy and Lucy; niece, Ranielle Johnson; and several cousins.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sister, Denise Johnson; and brother, Randy Johnson.
