Letter: Friends of the Library book sale was a success

Published 10:00 pm Monday, November 13, 2017

Thank you to everybody who made the Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale in October a success. We raised $1,708 from sales of books and memberships, including a donation to make children’s and young adult books free on Saturday. Together with Fountain Lake Bookstore sales and donations, these funds support extra programs and supplies at the Albert Lea Public Library.

We want to especially thank Janelle VanEngelenburg and her Sentence-To-Serve crew, the city of Albert Lea, the Albert Lea Fire Department, Michelle Gurung and many Friends volunteers for their efforts on behalf of this event. We also appreciate continuing generous donations of books in good condition from area residents.

The Fountain Lake Bookstore is in the basement of City Hall and is staffed by volunteers year-round. A payment box is also available for purchasing books outside bookstore hours. Book donations can be dropped off in the blue bin at the bottom of the stairway.
