Tigers prepare for new season

- The Albert Lea boys hockey team recently began practices preparing for its 2017 season. The Tigers are coming off a 13-13-1 season, which came to an end in the second round of the Section 1A tournament. – Tyler Julson/Albert Lea Tribune

- Senior captain Bergan Lundak takes part in a drill Wednesday afternoon at practice. Lundak was selected as an All-Conference honorable mention last season. He said the team has set the goal as a state tournament berth and anything less would be disappointing. – Tyler Julson/Albert Lea Tribune
- Albert Lea senior Spencer Chicos returns to the team as a forward. Chicos was given the award of hardest worker after the 2016 season. – Tyler Julson/Albert Lea Tribune
- Head coach Jason Fornwald said the strength of this year’s team is going to be the leadership of all of the upperclassmen and their ability to make big-time plays. The players echoed Fornwald’s comments and added they have a lot of guys who can score quickly. – Tyler Julson/Albert Lea Tribune
