Dangerously cold temperatures expected through weekend

Freeborn County and the surrounding areas are under a wind chill advisory as dangerously cold wind chills are expected throughout the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, wind chill values will range from 20 to 35 degrees below zero during the day, and 30 to 45 degrees below zero overnight.
The advisory remains in effect through Monday morning.
People are advised to cover exposed skin and dress in layers when outside.
If traveling, people should make sure to have warm clothes in your car and to make sure someone else knows their travel plans. People are also advised to make sure they have plenty of gas in their vehicles.
The cold wind chills could cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
A wind chill warning is in effect for areas west of Freeborn County, including Blue Earth County.
