Funeral services for Ronald Dean Drescher, 68, of rural Conger will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Maple St. S. in Conger. The Rev. Daphne Hamborg will officiate. Interment will be at Conger Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Ron died peacefully at home Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Ronald Dean Drescher was born April 20, 1949, in Albert Lea, the son of August and Hazel (Hanson) Drescher. He lived on the family farm his whole life. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church and remained a life-long member. Ron graduated from Alden-Conger High School in 1967.
On May 24, 1977, he was united in marriage to Connie Jean Oster at The Little Brown Church.
Ron loved the farm life, especially livestock, and attending county fairs. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Connie; sons Tony (Carreen) Houfek, Steve (Laura) Houfek, Matthew Drescher and Adam (Shanna) Drescher; grandchildren Nathan, Bradley and Andrew Houfek, Alliana, Megan and Emma Houfek, and Brooklyn and Aubrey Drescher; great-grandchildren Mason, Griffin and Allison Houfek; sisters Dolly Gillen and Judy (John) Schwab; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents August and Hazel.
