5 things to do this weekend

1. Acoustic music

Country group Red Dirt Road is headed to the Bend in the Road in Manchester at 8 p.m. Friday. The band has changed and grown over the four years since its inception and now works to “rock up the new top 40 country.”

2. Gubernatorial forum

All DFL Party gubernatorial candidates have been invited to attend the 1st Congressional District DFL gubernatorial forum from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Southwest Middle School. Following the debate, which features questions from a panel of journalists, there will be a 30-minute reception in the foyer with beverages and cookies.

3. Christian music and comedy

Comedian Tina Haroldson and the Angie Kelly Band will both hit the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center stage at 7 p.m. Saturday to share Christian music and comedy, respectively. The evening is hosted by Albert Lea Area Christian Events and emceed by KJLY Christian Radio’s Steve Ware.

4. ‘Fragments’

“Fragments” is an art show that tells the story of one woman’s journey through Alzheimer’s. This will be Janel Beckman’s last art show before the works are divided up among family members. The pieces are on display at Interchange Wine & Coffee Bistro from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

5. Family historians

The Freeborn County Historical Museum, Library and Village is looking into natural scientists at its family historians event Saturday. The family program begins at 10 a.m.
