An Albert Lea man was injured Thursday morning in a T-bone crash in Albert Lea.

John Nielsen, 65, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea after sustaining an injury above his left eye.

Nielsen was driving a 2015 GMC pickup west on Ninth Street when he reportedly failed to yield to a 2006 SUV driven by Rose O’ Reilly, 30, of Clarks Grove that was heading south on Academy Avenue, according to Albert Lea police. After the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Ninth Street and Academy Avenue, the pickup struck a tree in the yard of 1502 Academy Ave., causing substantial damage to the tree.
