The Lake Mills wrestlers hosted their dual invitational on Saturday and bulldozed the competition in four dual wins.
In the opener, the team shutout Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, 78-0. The Bulldogs gained seven pins in the meet.
“The boys were really aggressive out of the gate,” said coach Alex Brandenburg. “It was nice to set the tone for the day.”
In the second round, Lake Mills took on a Southeast Polk squad, mainly comprised of its second -string kids. The Bulldogs racked up eight pins en route to a 62-12 win.
“The kids wrestled really well against Southeast Polk,” Brandenburg said. “The upper weights set the tone, and we only gave up points where we forfeited.”
North Union was the next opponent, and the result was similar as the Dogs racked up seven pins and won, 76-6. The win set up a match up with the other unbeaten team on the day, North Butler-Clarksville.
The dual was back and forth early until Lake Mills took charge late by scoring the final 46 points to win, 58-15.
“Just like last week, our team saved our best dual for last,” Brandenburg said. “I was extremely pleased with our dominance of a solid team.”
Lake Mills also had a junior varsity squad compete Saturday against the other four teams, and they wrestled well, winning two duals.
“It was exciting seeing our depth today, as our second team competed well against varsity competition,” Brandenburg said.
Individual Bulldogs who went 4-0 were: Jack Ramaker, Caiden Jones, Tyler Helgeson, Jimmy Gallardo, Alex Martinson, Casey Hanson, Kyle Beery, Drae Love, Alex Albert, Elijah Wagner, Drake Harnish, and Gabe Irons.
With the wins, the fifth ranked Bulldogs improved to 24-3 on the season.
