Local students receive scholarships
The Iowa State University College of Human Sciences awarded scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year.
Jordan Larson of Lake Mills received the Julia Faltinson Anderson Unpaid Internship and Student Teaching Scholarship from the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences. Larson is studying kinesiology and health.
Karina Stripe of Albert Lea received the Helen A. Foster Scholarship from the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences. Stripe is studying early childhood education.
Sydney Larson of Lake Mills received the Smith Anderson Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship from the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences for the 2017-18 academic year. Larson is studying family and consumer sciences education and studies at Iowa State.
The Iowa State University College of Human Sciences and its academic departments awarded more than $1.3 million in student scholarships and awards for this academic year.
A.L. student enrolls at SJU
Samuel Chalmers, son of Christopher and Jennifer Chalmers of Albert Lea, enrolled at Saint John’s University for the 2017-18 academic year.
Area students accepted for enrollment
Scot Schaeffer, Luther College vice president for enrollment management, has announced that Joseph Kreun, Jens Lange, Lukas Peterson and Tyler Ziegler of Albert Lea have been accepted for admission for the 2018-19 academic year. Peterson has been awarded the Achievement Award.
A national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 2,150, Luther offers an academic curriculum that leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 60 majors and pre-professional programs.
Alden native graduates
Rachel Kleinschrodt of Alden graduated with a degree in business administration from Wartburg College at the Dec. 10 commencement. Kleinschrodt is the daughter of Miles and Dianne Kleinschrodt.
