Hollandale business finds success in diversity

HOLLANDALE — The secret to success is oftentimes diversifying — at least according to Dale Miller.
Miller reopened Hollandale’s only bar, restaurant and gas station/convenience store after it had been closed for a year. He quickly realized that while the businesses might be harder to operate in such a small town on their own, he combined the three businesses into the Hollandale 3 in 1 Bar and Restaurant.
More than eight years later, it’s apparent his vision paid off.
In an earlier interview, Miller described the scene downtown as being much different than it was when he first opened a few years ago. He said Hollandale’s main street has gone from looking like a ghost town to having people jokingly complain about how far away they had to park — and he recently said he’s only getting busier thanks to word of mouth from regular coffee drinkers, frequent diners and members of the establishment’s pool and dart leagues.
One thing he noted that seems to be bringing them in is the business’s new two- and four-piece chicken dinners, which are only available Friday and Saturday nights.
Regular events also take place at the establishment. Thursday night is Taco Night, and on Saturday nights there are alternating specials including fish, prime rib, steak and shrimp or barbecued ribs, as well.
Hollandale’s 3 in 1 Bar and Restaurant is at 101 Park Ave. W. and is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and is closed Sunday.
